Check/and empty your child's backpack daily.
This year first grade teachers are sending home "School to Home" folders every FRIDAY. Please RETURN the folder and and paper books each THURSDAY.
1. Weekly Report- I send academic and behavior progress every Friday.
2. Reading Log- This is attached to the Weekly Report. Separate and keep until filled out. Return as completed. I give my first graders free books:
6 returned Reading Logs = 1 free book!
3. Reading Practice- Please read with your child daily. First grade teachers encourage 15 minutes a day, your child may practice sounds, blending, their high frequency word cards I send home, and any reading material from home or school. If your child is not reading yet, please watch the video "Reading With Your Child". It has great suggestions for reading aloud to your child, asking questions, and listening to your child repeat the parts of the story they have memorized. It is an amazing first step to reading independently.
4. In addition, I try to include notes, flyers, and district information.
Parents please check/and EMPTY backpacks daily.
