Welcome the new 2nd Graders of 2016-2017!
Mrs. Stein's first graders graduated today! They have made remarkable progress this year!
Thank you parents, grandparents, foster parents, friends, neighbors, and daycare providers! It truly takes a village to raise a child in this world today. All my best for a safe and happy summer!

Jog-A-Thon Winners!

Room 4 earned 2nd place in the Jog-A-Thon fund raising effort. Our class gathered over $2,000.00 in pledges. Thank you everyone! A special hug to Carmen's family for raising over $1,000.00. You truly supported us! Our class will have a root beer float party soon! Ridgeview collected over $20,000.00! We are blessed to live in a community so generous.

Field Day Volunteers Needed!

Field Day is scheduled for Wednesday, June 15th! Volunteers help students travel from activity to activity. If you would like to volunteer please contact Karen Babcock or a PTO Officer for areas needing support. Our first grade time slot is 9-10:00 am.

Friends for Life

As June begins my first graders are becoming aware the year is soon ending. Today during all of the celebrating- summer birthdays, and reading faster, we said good-by to Sydney. She is moving away from the area, so she will not be here next year. As first grade teachers prepare students for the transition to 2nd grade we spend a lot of time talking about change. Change happens, and it is a part of life! We will be spending more time with rooms 5 and 6, allowing our kids opportunities to  "regroup" with friends they may be in class with next year. We want our students to be excited about 2nd grade!

Making Music!

This week room 4 practiced "tooting" on trumpets... REAL brass trumpets! But the most loved instrument in the music room room is the guitar.

Ice Cream, Ice Cream!

Today the first grade enjoyed sharing ice cream to celebrate our "Ice Cream for Reading Fluency" challenge! We honored our "Weekly Mom Helpers!" with a Jack Johnson song, "With My Own Two Hands" www.azlyrics.com/lyrics/jackjohnson/withmyowntwohands.html. We also celebrated our June, July, and August summer birthday kids! Please enjoy our work folders! Each child brought home their work from each trimester today. What a great year of growth for every child!
